Kawon Demarkus Hoover, a 28-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on August 16, 2020, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Kawon was born on May 9, 1992, to parents Shilette Hoover and Mark Roddey, who preceded him in death. He was the only son in a family of girls and was known for his adventurous and fearless nature. Kawon was a devoted father to two children, Zamar and Zamia, and a loving boyfriend to Tishara McCullough.
He had a passion for rap music and recorded two songs during his lifetime.
The circumstances surrounding Kawon's death were tragic. On the night of August 16, 2020, Kawon, along with two other men, Jawuan Pressley, 22, and Keith Rivera, 29, were victims of a triple homicide in West Charlotte. The shooting occurred on Reid Avenue, where an unidentified number of suspects fired multiple shots at a group of people. Kawon and Keith were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but unfortunately, both succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Jawuan Pressley, who was also critically injured, died a few days later on August 20, 2020, due to complications from the gunshot wounds.
Despite the passage of time, no arrests have been made in connection with the triple homicide. The killers of Kawon, Jawuan, and Keith remain at large, and there are no suspects currently wanted for the crime. The lack of progress in the investigation has left the families of the victims seeking justice and closure.
