Zuri Arcedrian Norman, a 26-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on October 30, 2020, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. near Winged Elm Court, which is off Reddman Road and south of Albemarle Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Zuri with a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department launched a homicide investigation immediately following the incident.
Detectives identified 36-year-old Derreck McDonald as the suspect in Zuri Norman's murder. However, McDonald was killed on December 12, 2020, before police could charge him with the murder. Despite McDonald's death, the CMPD established probable cause in the homicide of Zuri Norman.
