Jonathan McCorkle, a 46-year-old man, was found shot to death on April 18, 2021, in east Charlotte, North Carolina. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near the 5200 block of Sharon Amity Road around 8 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered McCorkle's body in the road, where he had been fatally shot. MEDIC confirmed that McCorkle died at the scene. The investigation into his death was immediately classified as a homicide.
