Alibria "Libby" Kerns, a 47-year-old woman from Rowan County, North Carolina, was reported missing in July 2021. Her remains were discovered on January 26, 2022, in a shallow grave behind a mobile home in Huntersville, North Carolina. The discovery was made after the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department shared information with the Huntersville Police Department based on a tip related to a missing persons case believed to have ended in a homicide. The remains were formally identified on February 21, 2022.
The investigation revealed that Kerns had been missing since July 2021. Surveillance footage showed her walking across a grassy field near the suspects' property on August 4, 2021, around 2:41 a.m. She was last seen wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and dark shoes with white soles, and a silicone ring on her left hand. The footage was crucial in establishing the timeline of her disappearance.
Two suspects were arrested and charged in connection with Kerns' death. Christopher John Nailor, a 43-year-old man, was charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and concealing a death. He is currently being held without bail in the Mecklenburg County Jail. The second suspect, Cody "Red" Camarda Graham, a 36-year-old woman, was charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and concealing a death after an interview with investigators while she was incarcerated on unrelated charges in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Graham will remain in custody in Michigan until an extradition hearing is completed.
The investigation into Kerns' death involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Huntersville Police Department, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Medical Examiner's Office, and the Kannapolis Police Department. Despite the arrests and charges, details about the cause of Kerns' death have not been publicly released.
