Markovia Lashawn Durham, a 29-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on August 8, 2021, in Gastonia, North Carolina. The incident occurred when Durham's 2-year-old son accidentally shot him while playing with a gun. The child, who was visiting his grandmother with his parents, found the firearm and mistook it for a toy. The boy accidentally fired the weapon, striking his father, Markovia Lashawn Durham, who was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.
