Sheronda Shaw, a 43-year-old African American woman from Laurinburg, North Carolina, tragically lost her life on August 20, 2021, following a shooting incident in Maxton, North Carolina. According to reports, the incident occurred at the intersection of Rockingham Road and North Patterson Street. Shaw was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital in a private vehicle, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation into Sheronda Shaw's death led to the arrest of Teon Bethea, a resident of Maxton. Bethea faced multiple charges, including first-degree murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder, possession with intent to sell/distribute cocaine, and various narcotics and firearm charges. The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort involving the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the state Alcohol and Law Enforcement, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, and law enforcement officials in Scotland County.
