Tahajie Howard, a 21-year-old Black man, was tragically shot and killed on October 17, 2021, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred in the late evening on Remount Road, where Tahajie was initially shot. He was then driven to a parking lot on South Mint Street in uptown Charlotte, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. This violent homicide marked the third murder in Charlotte on that day.
Following the investigation, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified
and arrested multiple suspects in connection with Tahajie's murder. On December 9, 2021, Gervaris Culp, 24, Takyi Wylie, 20, and Jamel Robinson, 21, were apprehended by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team. Each of these individuals was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The suspects were transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Jail after their interviews with detectives.
Later, on December 30, 2021, a fourth suspect, Monterius Johnson, 23, was also arrested and charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
