Phillip Davone Troublefield, a 32-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on November 22, 2021, in Warsaw, North Carolina. Known affectionately as "Stacks," Phillip was a well-known tattoo artist and entrepreneur who had started his own clothing line, "Born Rejects." He was born on January 23, 1989, in Prince George's County, Maryland, to Katrina D. Wilson and the late Michael Smith.
Phillip was a beloved figure in his community, known for his creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
On the evening of November 22, 2021, Phillip and another individual, Debbie Castillo Cortez, were found dead from gunshot wounds in Warsaw. The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of Yancey Street and Matthews Street. Two other individuals, both juveniles, were also injured in the shooting but survived. The Warsaw Police Department, with assistance from the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation, is handling the investigation. As of now, there have been no arrests or suspects publicly identified in connection with the case.
The community has been deeply affected by the loss of Phillip and Debbie. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and seeing police cars at the scene. One resident described how a bullet entered her living room while she was watching TV with her daughter, forcing them to take cover and call the police.
