Glen Leal Jr., a 32-year-old man from Mocksville, NC, tragically lost his life on December 8, 2021. On that evening, Davie County deputies responded to a report of a shooting at Forrest Lane Apartments in Mocksville. Upon arrival, they found Glen Leal Jr. with a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Glen Leal Jr. was a beloved member of his community, known for his love of fishing, hunting, hiking, and cooking.
Following an investigation, authorities arrested Summer Brooks McGuire, a 30-year-old woman, and charged her with murder. The two had reportedly become engaged earlier that same day and had been celebrating when an argument ensued. Witnesses at the scene reported hearing a gunshot during the altercation. McGuire admitted to shooting Leal and was subsequently taken into custody without bond. The case remains under investigation by the Davie County Sheriff's Office.
