Harley Alexander Shirley, a 21-year-old male from Clayton, North Carolina, was tragically shot and killed on February 17, 2022, during a memorial balloon release event in Garner, NC. The event was held in honor of Xavier Smith, who had died in a car crash the previous month. The shooting occurred in the front yard of Smith's home on Josephine Road, and the suspects fled the scene.
