Elvin Yomar Barbosa Jimenez, a 41-year-old man from Thomasville, NC, was tragically shot to death on February 19, 2022. The incident occurred at his home on Culbreth Avenue. According to witnesses, the shots were fired from outside the home near the roadway. This was the first homicide in Thomasville in over a year.
Two teenagers were arrested in connection with the murder of Elvin Yomar Barbosa Jimenez.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested on February 21, 2022, and charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a minor, and various narcotics-related charges. The following day, a 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Both teenagers are being held at the Alexander Juvenile Detention Center in Taylorsville.
The investigation revealed that this was not a random act, although the motive for the shooting has not been released. The Thomasville police have been working diligently on the case, and more charges are expected as the investigation continues. The community has been urged to come forward with any information that could help solve the crime.
