Keith Anthony Mosely Jr., a 21-year-old African American male, tragically passed away on May 29, 2022, in Asheville, North Carolina. Keith, affectionately known as "Deuce," was a beloved member of his community, known for his athletic prowess and charming personality. He was a full-time student at Barton College and had dreams of joining the Carolina Panthers. His life was cut short when he was found with multiple gunshot wounds on Atkinson Street in Asheville.
Despite being rushed to Mission Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Asheville Police Department quickly launched an investigation into Keith's death. Detectives identified 23-year-old Kevion Martese Edgerton as a suspect in the case. Edgerton turned himself into the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office and was subsequently charged with first-degree murder. The investigation revealed that Keith had been shot multiple times, and Edgerton was held responsible for the crime. This incident marked the sixth confirmed homicide in Asheville for the year 2022, with four of those being firearm-related.
The community was deeply affected by Keith's untimely death, and his family and friends mourned the loss of a young man with a bright future ahead of him.
