Emanuel Alphonso Heyliger II, a 22-year-old African American male, tragically passed away on July 1, 2022, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Emanuel, affectionately known as "Man Man," was born on October 5, 1999, in Charleston, West Virginia. He moved to Greensboro at the age of five and was educated in the Guilford County Schools System, graduating from Southeast High School in 2018. Emanuel also attended Hargrave Military Academy and Guilford Technical Community College.
He had a deep love for sports, particularly football and basketball, and was known for his big heart and infectious smile.
The circumstances surrounding Emanuel's death were the result of a tragic accident. On the evening of July 1, 2022, Emanuel sustained fatal injuries from an accidental discharge of an unsecured firearm. Greensboro police responded to a call about a shooting on Sycamore Glen Road just before 10 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Emanuel with a serious injury. Despite efforts to save him, Emanuel succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation revealed that the firearm had discharged accidentally, leading to Emanuel's untimely death. There were no arrests, suspects, or litigations reported in connection with this incident, as it was determined to be an accidental shooting.
