Javonta King Purdie, a 30-year-old Black man, tragically lost his life on October 23, 2022, in Elizabethtown, NC. He was attending a large party in a country field when shots were fired during an altercation. The incident resulted in a double homicide, with 17-year-old Makei Hill also losing his life. A 24-year-old woman was seriously injured and transported to the hospital. Javonta was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
