Weldon Edward Caldwell, a 67-year-old man from Saint Pauls, North Carolina, tragically passed away on November 2, 2022. Caldwell was found deceased inside his residence on Barker Ten Mile Road after deputies responded to a call around 1:45 a.m. The cause of death was determined to be a shooting.
Following Caldwell's death, two individuals were arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Jordan Floyd, a 25-year-old man, was taken into custody and charged with the murder of Caldwell as well as discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling. Shane Michael Britt, also 25 years old, was arrested the following day and faced similar charges. Both Floyd and Britt are being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
The investigation into Caldwell's death revealed that the shooting was related to other weapon violations that occurred in the Saint Pauls area throughout the night. The Robeson County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, is continuing to investigate the case.
Caldwell is remembered by his family and friends as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was employed by Converse and Prestage Food Plant during his lifetime. His funeral services were held on November 7, 2022, at Great Marsh Cemetery in Saint Pauls.
