Rogers' family described her as a sweet and loving girl who leaves behind a
sick mother in need of her care. Her aunt, who witnessed the shooting, expressed her devastation and the hope she had for Rogers' survival. A memorial has been created for Rogers in the 600 block of Bragg Street, with candles spelling "LLJ" for "Long Live Jamila".
The suspect in the case is identified as 44-year-old Stanley Lemont Johnson, who goes by the alias "Tadpole." Johnson was last seen leaving the scene on foot, and Raleigh police have released his mugshot, asking for the public's help in locating him. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are actively searching for Johnson.
