Deputy Marshal Jessie I. Neal, Sr., aged 46, was a dedicated officer with the Farmerville Police Department in Louisiana. On April 8, 1973, he responded to a domestic disturbance call at the D'Arbonne Village public housing complex. Alongside Deputy Marshal Ned Wiley, Neal approached the scene, only to be shot in the chest at point-blank range with a shotgun by the suspect.
