In the quiet setting of Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, a routine attempt to apprehend a wanted man tragically escalated, resulting in the death of a dedicated law enforcement officer. On February 2, 1984, Deputy Sheriff Edward Toefield Jr., a 40-year-old male, was on duty when he encountered a suspect sought for a bank robbery in New Orleans and the rape of his own daughter. The encounter took place at Hi-Ho Sam's Restaurant, located just south of Amite.
