Sergeant Nolan Williamson Sr., aged 61, was a dedicated officer with the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Department in Louisiana. On March 16, 2000, he responded to a call about a two-car vehicle crash. Unarmed and working in the parish jail where firearms were not permitted, he accompanied another deputy to the scene. Upon arrival, he was shot in the neck by the suspect. Despite being transported to a local hospital, Sergeant Williamson succumbed to his injuries a week later.
