In the early morning hours of June 20, 2013, the life of 18-year-old Addarren Ross, an African American male known professionally as the rapper Lil Snupe, was tragically cut short in Winnfield, Louisiana. The incident unfolded at the Maplewood Apartments on South Jones Street, where Ross was visiting a friend. An argument, reportedly stemming from a video game, escalated into a fatal confrontation.
Ross was shot twice in the chest and, despite the efforts of paramedics, was pronounced dead at the scene around 4:00 a.m.
The primary suspect in the shooting was identified as 36-year-old Tony Holden. In the days following the incident, authorities issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. On June 26, 2013, Holden turned himself in to the Winnfield police and was booked into the city jail.
A second individual, 21-year-old Edrick O. Stewart, was also implicated in the case. Stewart was arrested on July 3, 2013, and charged with manslaughter. The investigation suggested the dispute that led to the shooting was over a bet on a video game. Ross, a rising star who had recently signed with Meek Mill's Dream Chasers record label, had just celebrated his 18th birthday days before his death.
