In the warm afternoon of Monday, September 16, 2013, in New Orleans, a life was cut tragically short. Kerwin Porsche Borden Sr., a 25-year-old Black male known to some as 'Porsche,' was found lifeless in an abandoned parking lot in the 1800 block of North Derbigny Street in the city's 7th Ward. The call came in around 2:20 p.m., and when officers arrived, they discovered Borden on the ground, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of his death, Borden was wearing an ankle monitor, though authorities could find no record of him being enrolled in a monitoring program within Orleans Parish. This detail added a layer of mystery to the circumstances surrounding his death. Two days after the discovery of his body, investigators released an image of a white vehicle they considered a vehicle of interest in connection to the homicide.
Despite this lead, the investigation into Kerwin Borden's murder has yet to yield any arrests. The case remains open, and authorities are still searching for possible suspects and a motive for the shooting. Borden, a father of three, was laid to rest on September 23, 2013, leaving behind a grieving family and a community still seeking answers.
