Herbert Thomas Tennessee, an 18-year-old male student at L.B. Landry/O.P. Walker College & Career Preparatory High School, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. His death came after he was shot in what was reported as a drive-by shooting in the Irish Channel neighborhood of New Orleans. The incident occurred in front of a residence in the Lower Garden District.
Following the shooting, Tennessee was transported to a hospital for treatment of a head wound.
He ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The case, initially investigated as an aggravated battery by shooting, was reclassified as a homicide upon his death.
In connection with the fatal shooting, three individuals were arrested. After Tennessee's death, the suspects were booked with second-degree murder. The investigation pointed to the shooting being the result of a drive-by incident. Herbert was remembered by his parents, Roshurn Tennessee and Herbert Scott, along with his grandmother, sisters, and other relatives and friends.
