In the early hours of a Saturday in New Orleans, the life of a promising young Black / African American man, Brian Yupman Jones, was tragically cut short. On June 6, 2015, just after midnight, the 22-year-old was discovered in the driver's seat of a gray 2010 Honda Civic in the 7200 block of Willow Brae Drive. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and his death was classified as a homicide.
Known to his friends and family as "B" or "YUPMAN," Brian was an aspiring artist and DJ who had
graduated from St. Augustine High School in 2011. His death left a void in the lives of his parents, siblings, grandparents, and a wide circle of relatives and friends who remembered him as a beloved and talented individual.
