In a quiet area of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, a horrific domestic dispute unfolded, claiming the lives of multiple family members, including 3-year-old Ashlynn Grace Blanchard. The young female was a victim of gun violence at her home on June 23, 2015.
That evening, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office received a distressing 911 call from Leola Blanchard, Ashlynn's grandmother. She reported a disturbance and, while on the phone, stated that her husband, Clifford Blanchard, had shot her.
A second 911 call came from Scott Blanchard, Ashlynn's father, who also reported being shot by his father, Clifford.
When deputies arrived at the residence on La Rue Angelle, they discovered a tragic scene. Ashlynn Grace Blanchard had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Her grandparents, 59-year-old Clifford Blanchard and 62-year-old Leola Blanchard, were also deceased from gunshot wounds. Scott Blanchard was found with a critical gunshot wound and was hospitalized.
Investigators determined that Clifford Blanchard, a former St. Martin Parish corrections officer, was the perpetrator of the initial shootings. Following the shooting of his wife, son, and granddaughter, a struggle ensued between Clifford and his son, Scott. This altercation resulted in Clifford Blanchard sustaining a fatal gunshot wound. Law enforcement officials stated that they were not searching for any other suspects in connection with the incident, concluding it as a domestic dispute that escalated to a murder-suicide.
