In the late summer of 2015, the community of Natchitoches, Louisiana, was rocked by the tragic death of 17-year-old DeMarcus Pye. A young man with his life ahead of him, Pye was fatally wounded in a shooting that occurred on Labor Day, September 7th. The incident cut short a promising future and left a family and community in mourning. The senseless act of violence prompted an immediate and thorough investigation by the Natchitoches Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division.

Through their investigation, it was determined that another youth, a 14-year-old juvenile, was responsible for the shooting.
