In the early hours of Christmas morning in 2016, a festive night out in Detroit turned into a tragedy for Jeffery Jr. Dunbar. On Sunday, December 25, 2016, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Dunbar was fatally shot outside the Dynasty Lounge, located at 12201 Harper Avenue on the city's east side. The male victim had been enjoying his evening at the lounge and was in the process of leaving.
As Jeffery Jr. Dunbar was heading to his vehicle, he was reportedly asked to go back inside the lounge to get a friend. Complying with the request, he turned back towards the entrance. As he was making his way back to his car after his friend emerged from the establishment, an unknown assailant fired multiple shots. Dunbar was struck by the gunfire and his life was cut short in the violent encounter.
In the wake of the shooting, the suspect remained unidentified and at large.
