In the early morning hours of June 2, 2016, the quiet community of Natalbany, Louisiana, was disturbed by the sound of gunshots. Responding to a call around 3:45 a.m., deputies from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office discovered a grim scene near the intersection of Haynes Lane and North Oak. Inside a car with shattered windows sat two unresponsive men who had been shot to death. One of the victims was identified as 31-year-old Randy Darnell Bickham of Springfield. The other man was 31-year-old Charleston Mitchell of Hammond.
As investigators from the sheriff's office and the Louisiana State Police crime lab began to process the scene, family and friends of the victims gathered nearby, struggling to comprehend the violent loss. Initially, law enforcement had no suspects or a clear motive for the double homicide. The case took a significant turn when, just a week later, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office announced an arrest in connection with the murders.
A 15-year-old male was taken into custody and charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the shooting deaths of Bickham and Mitchell. The investigation further deepened with the discovery of the body of 18-year-old Marquise Lightfoot in the vicinity the day after the double homicide. Authorities stated their belief that this third death was connected to the murders of Bickham and Mitchell, suggesting a potential link to drug-related activities.
