In the summer of 2016, a quiet street in Tickfaw, Louisiana, became the scene of a tragic event that ended the life of 52-year-old Susan Roumillat. On the evening of July 1st, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a residence on Ewing Drive following reports of a disturbance involving weapons.
Upon their arrival at the home around 9:15 p.m., law enforcement officers discovered a grim scene.
Inside, they found Susan Roumillat and her 56-year-old husband, Steven Roumillat, both unresponsive. The preliminary investigation quickly painted a harrowing picture of the moments that led to the discovery.
Authorities determined that during a domestic dispute, Steven Roumillat had armed himself with a handgun. He then fatally shot his wife, Susan. Shortly after, he used the same weapon to take his own life. The case was consequently investigated as a murder-suicide, with Steven Roumillat identified as the sole suspect in his wife's death. As the perpetrator was deceased, no arrests were made in connection with the incident.
