On January 9, 2017, 39-year-old Kermit Jackson, a male of African American ethnicity, was fatally shot multiple times on Carrie Lane in Geismar, Louisiana. The tragic incident led to his death later that day. The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the shooting, which resulted in the arrest of several individuals.
