Gavonte Lampkin, a 20-year-old African American male, was found dead on July 29, 2018, in a wooded area of Algiers, New Orleans. His body, along with that of 20-year-old Shantrell Parker, was discovered by the New Orleans Fire Department. Both victims had been shot and then burned beyond recognition. The coroner later identified the bodies. Lampkin had been the victim of two previous shootings and was set to testify in a trial related to one of those incidents.
