On the evening of November 1, 2018, a Black/African American man named Robert Felix was fatally shot outside his residence in Scott, Louisiana. The incident occurred in the 2900 block of West Willow Street, where Felix was discovered with gunshot wounds.
Months later, on February 4, 2019, an investigation by the Scott Police Department led to the arrest of a suspect.
Traven Solomon, a 25-year-old from the neighboring city of Lafayette, was taken into custody at his workplace in downtown Lafayette. The arrest was the culmination of a probe that involved assistance from the Lafayette Police Department.
Following his arrest, Solomon was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. He faced a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Robert Felix. In addition to the murder charge, Solomon was also booked on charges of possession of Schedule I narcotics and taking contraband to a penal facility. His total bond was set at $290,500.
