On the night of March 15, 2019, 31-year-old Caleb Pippenger was found by family members lying in the front yard of his Benton, Louisiana, home with a fatal gunshot wound. The discovery was made following a family gathering at his residence on Post Oak Drive. Just two days prior to his death, Pippenger had been granted custody of his son.
The investigation into Pippenger's murder led to the arrests of three individuals.
In May 2019, acting on a tip, Bossier Parish Sheriff's detectives apprehended 29-year-old Justin C. Sepulvado of Bossier City for his involvement in the homicide. The following month, authorities arrested 26-year-old Alisa Lochabay of Shreveport as a principal to the murder.
In July 2019, the investigation culminated in the arrest of the mother of Pippenger's child, 29-year-old Shawna M. Jones of Shreveport. She was taken into custody on a fugitive warrant and charged with Principal to Second Degree Murder. Her arrest came just weeks after she had been arrested on drug-related charges, which had led to Pippenger being granted custody of their son. The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office continued their investigation even after the three arrests were made.
