On June 13, 2024, 76-year-old Wilmer Monette Jr. of Shreveport, Louisiana, was fatally shot in Benton, Louisiana. As he exited his vehicle in the driveway of a business, a suspect approached and shot him multiple times in the upper body. Despite immediate efforts to save his life, Monette died at the scene.
