On the morning of September 1, 2020, 44-year-old African American male Malacra Oyah Smith was fatally shot in the parking lot of Parkview Apartments in Monroe, Louisiana. Another African American male, Lamarcus Plater, was also killed in the same incident. Both victims were found deceased at the scene by Monroe Police officers.
