In the early morning hours of December 18, 2020, a dispute between friends in Doyline, Louisiana, ended in tragedy. Shane Isiah Siah, a 19-year-old male, was shot and killed at the residence of his friend, 18-year-old Dallas Major Edwards. Siah, a resident of Shreveport, had gone to Edwards' home on Highway 163 with his brother, Romaris Williams, to retrieve some items they believed Edwards had stolen from them.
According to reports from the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies
responded to a shooting call at the location at approximately 1:59 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Shane Siah in the backyard at the bottom of the steps leading to the back door, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to his back.
Dallas Edwards was taken into custody at the scene without incident. During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Siah and Edwards were close friends who often visited each other's homes. Edwards told deputies that he heard a knock at his back door. He claimed to have seen a Black male holding an 'AR rifle' and, as the person turned to run, Edwards fired his own rifle through the glass door, striking Siah.
Edwards was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder for the death of his friend. However, court records show that he later pleaded to lesser charges. He received a sentence of one year for felony illegal possession of illegal things and a ten-year sentence with all but one year suspended for conspiracy to commit simple burglary. This was to be followed by three years of active supervised probation.
