In the winter of 2021, the life of 23-year-old Cleveland Ja’Quan Thompson was cut short in a burst of violence. A young man from Metairie, Louisiana, he was shot on January 19, 2021. For five days, he clung to life, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries on January 23, 2021, in a New Orleans hospital. His death was classified as a homicide, prompting an investigation by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
