In the Central City neighborhood of New Orleans, a tragic and violent series of events unfolded in February 2021, resulting in the death of 26-year-old Bryan Veal and his two brothers, leaving a family and community shattered. The initial incident occurred on the evening of February 13th, when Bryan was shot and killed at the corner of Washington and Loyola Avenues. He and his brothers, Brandon and Bradley, were walking home when a car approached, and shots were fired from the vehicle.
Bryan was fatally wounded, while his younger brother Bradley was also injured in the attack.
The heartbreak for the Veal family was compounded by the immediate aftermath of the shooting. Bryan's surviving brothers, Brandon and Bradley, were reportedly distraught and upset with the police response at the scene. This led to a confrontation, and both brothers were arrested and charged with battery on a police officer. They were taken into custody while grieving the violent death of their sibling.
Just one week later, on February 20th, tragedy struck the Veal family again in the most horrific way. Brandon, 30, and Bradley, 21, were ambushed and shot multiple times in the 3100 block of Carondelet Street, less than a mile from where Bryan had been killed. Neighbors reported hearing a barrage of 30 to 40 gunshots. The attack was described as a senseless ambush.
To date, the murders of Bryan, Brandon, and Bradley Veal remain unsolved, with no arrests made and no suspects publicly identified. The New Orleans Police Department has investigated the case, and at one point, located the vehicle believed to have been used in Bryan's shooting. However, this did not lead to the identification of the assailants. The lack of witnesses and clear surveillance footage has hampered the investigation. In an effort to generate leads, a billboard with the brothers' pictures was erected, and Crime Stoppers has offered a significant reward for any information that could lead to an arrest and conviction in these brutal and connected murders. The family continues to seek justice for their three sons, whose lives were tragically cut short in a single week of unrelenting violence.
