In the early morning hours of July 2, 2008, 28-year-old African-American female Tiffany Lomax was the victim of a fatal shooting in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood. She was a passenger in a car on River Street when another vehicle pulled alongside and an occupant opened fire. Lomax was struck in the chest by the gunfire. The male driver of the car she was in was also hit, sustaining a wound to his arm. Despite his injuries, he was able to drive to a nearby hospital.
