In the spring of 2022, a drive-by shooting in Natchitoches, Louisiana, claimed the life of 28-year-old Kimanesha Carter. The incident, which occurred on March 17th, also left another individual injured. Carter, a female, was a mother who was described by loved ones as sweet, calm, and very generous.
The events of that tragic night began on Texas Street, where a suspect or suspects began shooting at the vehicle Carter occupied.
In an attempt to escape the gunfire, the driver led a chase through several neighborhoods, culminating on Amulet Street in the Bailey Heights area. It was there that police, responding to reports of multiple gunshots, discovered Carter and another victim with gunshot wounds in front of a residence. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene.
Despite the passage of time, the case remains unsolved, and a suspect is still at large, leaving Carter's family to grapple with unanswered questions and a profound sense of loss. Her family has publicly pleaded for anyone with information to come forward, expressing their frustration and pain over the lack of progress in the investigation. They believe that individuals with knowledge of the crime, including the other person in the car with Carter, have not been truthful. The Natchitoches Police Department continues to seek information from the public to bring those responsible for Kimanesha Carter's death to justice.
