In the quiet town of Arcadia, Louisiana, a life was tragically cut short on the evening of June 19, 2022. Roderick Torrel Davis, a 40-year-old African American male, became the victim of a fatal shooting that unfolded on Cable Street. The events of that night shattered the peace of the community and left a family grieving an immeasurable loss.
Law enforcement from the Arcadia Police Department and the Bienville Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:17
p.m. following reports of a possible shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Davis suffering from a significant gunshot wound to his chest. Deputies immediately began performing CPR in a desperate attempt to save his life. Pafford EMS arrived shortly after and continued emergency medical efforts, transporting Davis to the Bienville Medical Center. Despite the efforts of first responders, Roderick Torrel Davis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the medical center. The Bienville Parish Coroner later ruled his death a homicide.
As medical personnel fought to save Davis's life, law enforcement officers worked diligently to secure the crime scene and piece together the events that led to the deadly shooting. Through the accounts of eyewitnesses at the scene, a suspect was quickly identified as Randy Donell Mangham, a resident of Marsalis Drive in Arcadia.
Following the identification of Mangham as the alleged shooter, the Arcadia Police Department located him a short time later. He was apprehended during a traffic stop conducted on U.S. 80 in Arcadia. Mangham was taken into custody without incident and was subsequently booked into the Bienville Parish Jail. He was charged with second-degree homicide in connection with the death of Roderick Torrel Davis. At the time of his booking, no bond was set. The investigation was then handed over to Bienville Parish Sheriff's Office investigators to be presented to the District Attorney's office for review and formal prosecution.
