Detective James J. Keefe, a 40-year-old white male, was a dedicated member of the Chicago Police Department. On January 5, 1905, he tragically lost his life in the line of duty. Detective Keefe, along with other officers, was attempting to arrest a suspect wanted for multiple armed robberies and the shooting of a policeman. The incident occurred at the intersection of 26th and Wallace Streets in Chicago.
