Alexander Compton, a 58-year-old white male, was serving as the Sheriff of Wabash County, Illinois, when he was tragically killed on December 20, 1906, in Mount Carmel, IL. Sheriff Compton's death was the result of a violent encounter involving a 17-year-old youth.
