Donald Vice, a 43-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on April 7, 1979, in Paxton, Illinois. The incident occurred during a violent shootout that also claimed the lives of State Trooper Michael McCarter and Paxton Patrolman William Caisse. Donald Vice was riding with McCarter, who was his brother-in-law, when the fatal encounter took place. The shootout happened south of Paxton after McCarter pulled over three vehicles for speeding.
