Gregory Ivan Young, a 41-year-old African American male, was a dedicated police officer with the Chicago Police Department. On the evening of September 18, 1997, Officer Young was off duty and sitting in his parked SUV in Garfield Park, located at 3500 West Schraeder Drive, with Leslie Adams, a 28-year-old Cook County Sheriff’s Deputy.
