In the early morning hours of January 19, 2017, the life of 38-year-old Angelo Wheeler was tragically cut short on the streets of Baltimore. Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1600 block of Chilton Street at approximately 2:45 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Wheeler suffering from gunshot wounds to his body. He was a male.
Emergency medical services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Wheeler's death led detectives to identify 23-year-old Katrell Smith as the suspected shooter. Authorities believe that an argument between Smith and Wheeler escalated, culminating in the fatal shooting. After the incident, Smith allegedly fled the scene.
Following an investigation, Baltimore Police arrested Katrell Smith in connection with Angelo Wheeler's murder. Smith was subsequently transported to the Central Booking and Intake Facility. He has been charged with first-degree murder for his alleged role in the death of Angelo Wheeler.
