Naoki Kamijima, a 48-year-old Japanese immigrant and shop owner in Crystal Lake, Illinois, was tragically killed on April 5, 1999. Kamijima was gunned down inside his neighborhood convenience store by Douglas G. Vitaioli, a 38-year-old man who harbored a deep-seated hatred for individuals of specific ethnicities.
