Eugenio Salazar Jr., a 22-year-old Hispanic male from Joliet, Illinois, tragically lost his life on October 14, 2000. The incident occurred late on a Friday night when Salazar was standing with a group outside a bar located in the 600 block of East Jackson Street. A man approached the group and opened fire, hitting Salazar. He was rushed to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, where he succumbed to his injuries. No other individuals were harmed during the shooting.
