Michael Brus, a 48-year-old white male from Hinckley, Illinois, tragically lost his life on February 5, 2001, at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, Illinois. His death was a result of a horrific workplace shooting at the Navistar International Corp. diesel engine plant in Melrose Park. The incident occurred just a day before the shooter, William D. Baker, a 66-year-old former employee of Navistar, was due to begin a prison sentence for theft from his ex-employer.
