In the early hours of an April morning in 2011, the life of a young African-American man, Edmund Andrade, was tragically cut short. At approximately 1:08 a.m. on April 20th, Boston police responded to a call for shots fired on Trull Street in the Dorchester neighborhood. Upon their arrival, officers found 23-year-old Edmund Andrade suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Edmund, known to his loved ones as "Duce," was remembered as a kind-hearted individual with a passion for music. His family described him as the youngest of four siblings and more than just a little brother, but a best friend. They recalled his bright smile and his ability to get along with everyone. His life was celebrated at a funeral mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dorchester, followed by his interment at New Calvary Cemetery.
The Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Edmund Andrade's death, which has been ruled a homicide. His case is listed among the city's unsolved homicides for 2011. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Investigators continue to urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward and assist in bringing closure to his family.
