On June 14, 2007, in Channahon Township, Illinois, 11-year-old Cassandra Ellen "Sandi" Vaughn, a young Caucasian female, was tragically found deceased alongside her family in their red Ford Expedition. The vehicle was parked on a secluded service road near Bluff Road and Interstate 55. Cassandra had suffered fatal gunshot wounds while seated in the back seat. Her mother, Kimberly Vaughn, 34, and siblings, Abigayle, 12, and Blake, 8, were also found shot to death inside the vehicle.
